PROJECT 2 - Semantics Music Video

I worked as a production assistant on local punk band Semantics’ Embrace Monotony music video from their debut album Paint Me Blue (2022). The video shows a one take shot of front man Callum Robinson singing the lyrics while gradually being attacked by splatters of multi-coloured paint. I assisted on set with synchronising ques and throwing paint. Being a one take shoot, it was imperative that all assistants quickly reacted to their ques in order to achieve the correct timing and specific paint throwing sequence. The music video was filmed at double the playback speed to attain a slow-motion effect when slowed down in post-production, making it an extremely quick take. It was a fantastic experience getting to work with Harley Jones, a distinguished music industry photographer and videographer. I was able to have an intimate insight into the filming and production process and simultaneously was able to establish industry connections. Additionally, it was a great way to creatively collaborate with my friends working within the music industry.
