PROJECT 3 - MEF.
“MEF.” is the abbreviation of My Education Fund and is the name of my music passion project. MEF. is a stoner punk rock trio, comprised of myself and my friends and accomplished musicians Elliot and Sam. In this project I am the primary song writer, where I write songs inspired by my accumulative taste in anything from punk rock to stoner rock to alternative, with inflections of my own personal take on these genres. MEF. is an angry, hard, fast expression of my personal experience; where I am able to say what I cannot in an everyday context. MEF. serves as a form of escapism from the pressures on Generation Z to perform in our modern capitalist society. Heavily inspired by the suppression of expression, and the political frustrations expressed by bands like Green Day, PUP, and the Sex Pistols. MEF. by nature of its name is an insult to elitist society. Together Elliot, Sam, and I jam on a regular basis, where we are able to experiment with tone, pace, and composition. MEF. is a developing concept at which I am working towards my goals of being able to write lyrics and sing, and one day playing our first of many shows. MEF. is currently in the writing phase of the music process. MEF. has allowed me to musically collaborate with other established musicians, from whom I have gained valuable musical knowledge and advice. MEF. will allow me to achieve my goals in the music industry and will be my way into Brisbane’s thriving punk scene.
